Test Methods to Know ifToys Are Compliant

01

Mechanical and physical properties

Toys need enough strength to withstand use and must not have sharp edges, protrusions, hanging parts or detachable pieces that could injure, strangle or choke children. Safety warnings and symbols should be included.

02

Flammability

Materials used in toys, stuffed toys and costumes must meet fire safety requirements. Chemicals in games must not react dangerously when mixed or exposed to air or water.

03

Electrical properties

Electric toys must meet the stated 24 Volt limit and must not heat up enough to cause burns.

04

Ink migration

Printed toys, feeding bottles, soothers and teethers are tested to assess whether ink substances could transfer to food or reach infants.

05

Chemical toys

Materials are assessed for harmful chemicals, particularly because infants may chew toys.

06

Finger paints

Their ingredients are tested, including the bittering agent intended to discourage swallowing.

07

Activity toys

Walkers, seesaws and slides must not have protruding parts that could trap or injure children.
